Reflections

A little need

Pranjali Singh

Abstract

This poem is a potent comment on what humanity is presently inflicting upon the world .

Heinous crimes, barbarous murders,
Ruthless bloodsheds, evanescing humanity;
There’s a little need of Love in this world,
A little desire of Sympathy,
A little yearning for Compassion from our brassy hearts.

Petrifying terrorism, turbulent riots,
Bloodthirsty fights, eternal enmity;
There’s a little need of Peace in this world,
A little desire of Brotherhood,
A little yearning for Kindness from our stony bosoms.

Weakening friendships, breaking families,
Fading love, deepening loneliness;
There’s a little need of Unity in this world,
A little desire of Faith,
A little yearning for Patience from our restless souls.

Hazardous air, toxic water,
Deteriorating environment, increasing industrialisation;
There’s a little need of Concern in this world,
A little desire of Selflessness,
A little yearning for Generosity from our cruel minds.

Vanishing responsibility, succumbing honesty,
Diminishing justice, rising corruption;
There’s a little need of Truth in this world,
A little desire of Wisdom,
A little yearning to realise that we’re sinking deeper in the mire of all evils.
